Dallas Architect Tom Greico’s award winning architectural designs have been selected by the Dallas Builders Association ARC for Best Conceptual Architectural Design for 3 years in a row. His home creations capture the essence of modern homes, Mid Century Modern style, designed and built in the late 50′s and 60′s.
Greico’s style of architecture merits influences from American icons Frank Lloyd Wright and Howard Meyer. “My favorite style of architecture is Mid-Century modern, with its strong horizontal elements, open multi-use rooms and the melding of interior and exterior spaces. There are several Dallas neighborhoods that have conserved the mid-20th century character by clean simplicity and integration with nature . The Disney Streets are fun and have an abundance of personality;Park Central Estates and Northwood Hills in North Dallas are both noted for their many examples of Mid-Century modern architecture as well as Highland Meadows in east Dallas .”
In 1976 Tom designed homes for local builders while attending Architecture school at University of Texas at Arlington. In 1985 he built Dallas based Greico Designers/Builders. “I enjoy problem solving through the creative process. This is on many levels in my business encompassing the designing of homes, developing marketing material, promoting and branding the business as well as understanding the personalities and motivation of the members of my building team and my clients.”
Tom is an artist that believes “the home should be the canvas. I prefer a palette of natural colors in warm tones. Textures and understated details using organic materials including woods, stone and brick craft a strikingly tailored look that is both clean and warm.”
What would this talented Dallasite be if he were not the award- winning, charismatic with a dash of dark humor man that stands before us?—Ironically he responds, “If I were not an architect, I would be homeless.”
